Together for Digital Sovereignty: AIONIO’s Presence & Insights at the OSCL 2026
What Makes This Conference Special
The Open Source Conference 2026 in Luxembourg impressively demonstrated that true digital independence emerges through cross-border collaboration and reliable alliances. Under the motto "Leading by example in Digital Sovereignty," the event at the University of Luxembourg's Belval Campus stood out for its practical focus and lively networking across industries and national borders.
At its core was the shift from isolated software procurement to the co-creation of reusable digital commons. The event provided a dedicated space to discuss how digital solutions can be operated independently, securely, and collaboratively.
AIONIO's Talk and Key Takeaways from the Sessions
In AIONIO's talk, "Building a Sovereign, Open-Source Data & AI Stack for Europe," I highlighted how we help organizations tackle today's challenges with speed and security. With our framework, we deliver a European, sovereign open-source solution for businesses seeking highly efficient architectures. It enables companies to make a smooth and seamless transition into AI-driven organizations without compromising on control, data privacy, or flexibility.
Insights from other sessions also proved invaluable for our daily work. "Are we sleepwalking into our next vendor lock-in?" showed how subtly new dependencies emerge through proprietary data formats and closed systems. This reinforces our commitment to open standards and strict interoperability, ensuring organizations maintain full sovereignty over their systems.
"Building Digital Commons for Public Sectors" illustrated how software can transform from a mere procurement outcome into a shared digital common. For future projects, we are taking away the importance of designing architectures to be even more modular, allowing publicly funded solutions to be efficiently reused and collaboratively developed under the principle of "Public Money, Public Code."
What we Personally Took Away from Belval
Beyond the technical insights, Belval was a resounding success on a personal and strategic level. We connected with valuable new experts, developers, and decision-makers, sparking initial ideas for collaborations. The energy and cross-border exchange provided immense inspiration, which is now flowing directly into our daily work and the ongoing development of our sovereign solutions.
Thank You to the Organizers
A big thank you goes to the organizing team of the Open Source Conference Luxembourg 2026, all the volunteers, and Campus Belval for their outstanding hosting and hospitality. It was an inspiring day packed with valuable insights for our daily work.
